Description
One-hundredth of a second separated PT Usha from a podium finish at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Despite the elusive bronze, her medal haul remains legendary.
As she neared retirement before the 1998 Asian Games, Usha reflected on her journey, saying, “I dared to dream and pushed myself.” And while she never claimed Olympic glory, she hoped Sri Lanka’s Susanthika Jayasinghe would succeed where she had fallen short.
In 2000, Jayasinghe won silver at the Sydney Olympics, fulfilling Usha’s wish.
